MQM-P Summons Meeting over Defection of Leaders

Karachi (October 30, 2017): The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has summoned an important meeting of its Rabita Committee after a key leader and deputy mayor of Karachi Arshad Vohra defected to Pak Sarzameen Party (PPP).

The MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar has convened party meeting today which will be held at Bahaderabad.
Vohra, the deputy mayor of Karachi on Sunday announced to quit the MQM-P and joined the PSP, which was formed last year by former MQM members Mustafa Kamal and Anis Kaimkhani.

The MQM-P leadership will discuss the issue of what the party said forced defection of party lawmakers and leaders to PSP.

The party will work out its strategy over emerging situation. A few days ago, Sattar had warned that MQM-P lawmakers would resign in protest from assemblies if forcing party MNAs and MPA to join PSP was not shunned.Vohra after quitting  the party had said his complaints regarding the city’s municipal issues had been going unheard for around a year.

Vohra had said a number of MQM-P members were in line to leave the party for the PSP.
