KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced that all necessary arrangements have been completed to ensure cleanliness across the city during Eidul Azha. He chaired a key meeting of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to review sanitation and animal waste disposal plans for the festive days.

During the meeting, the mayor distributed biodegradable bags to representatives of the Dawoodi Bohra community, encouraging eco-friendly disposal of sacrificial animal waste. He stated that the city administration had taken extensive measures to assist residents and maintain hygiene throughout Eid.

Murtaza Wahab instructed relevant authorities to ensure the prompt removal of offal during the five-day cleanliness campaign. He also stressed the importance of resolving citizens’ complaints without delay, along with road washing, lime sprinkling, fumigation, and rose water spraying to keep the environment clean and pleasant.

SSWMB Managing Director Tariq Ali Nizamani informed attendees that details of collection points and complaint centers had already been shared through social media platforms. He added that the SSWMB helpline 1128 would remain available 24/7, while complaint centers had been established in every district of Karachi for public assistance.

Meanwhile, Ali Asghar Khadim, Regional Coordinator of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Nazafat Organization, praised the efforts of Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and SSWMB officials for distributing over 3,000 biodegradable bags across Karachi.
