NAB Approves Reference Against Shaukat Aziz, Liaqat Jatoi

Islamabad (May 23, 2018): National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday approved corruption reference against former prime minister Shaukat Aziz,  former federal minister Liaqat Jatoi and former secretary of water and power. NAB also initiates probe of illegal purchase and lease of land of Multan metro bus project.   

NAB chairmen Justice (R) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting of executive board of anti watch dog in Islamabad.

NAB also decided to file corruption reference against Former additional secretary of water and power Mohammed Yousaf Memon, Former joint secretary of water and power Ghulam Nabi Mangrio, Former section officer of water and power Umer Farooq.

Beside Shaukat Aziz and Jatoi, former chairman of Alternative Energy Development Board (AEBD) Air Marshal (R) Shahid Hamid,  former secretary AEBD Nasim Akhtar Khan, Former Chief executive officer AEBD Arif All-u-din, and former consultant of AEBD Bishart Hassan Bashir were also accused of corruption and there will be investigation against them.They are accused to appoint illegally Bishart Hassan Bashir as consultant which caused 20 million losses to national exchequer.

NAB executive board also nod for probe against CDA officers, m/s Park line state company private limited.

While NAB closed the inquiry against director national fertilizer marketing limited Tarique Shafeeq, general manager Fakhr-u-Zaman Ali Cheema and other on the basis of lack of evidence.

Moreover, the case against Sohail Umar, former director of Iqbal Academy, and others was also shelved due to lack of evidence.

NAB executive board also approved inquiry against EOBI and Bank of Punjab Lahore officials, EOBI administration is accused of illegally purchasing 3 billion shares in Bank of Punjab Lahore.
