During the hearing today at the the ATC court, the prosecution sought for time to submit final challan into the case and asked to send the 12 accused including Rao Anwar on judicial remand till May 2. The plea was accepted by the court.  Meanwhile, responding to a query from a journalist that he was considered a hero through his police encounters but his own force has claimed that all the encounters are fake, Rao said that he would tell the JIT if the encounters were real or fake.

“The case challan will reveal everything,” he asserted.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) formed under the directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan has held former Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed Khan responsible for killing Naqeebullah Mehsud and three others in a “fake encounter” in Karachi on January 13.

A JIT member said on the condition of anonymity that the investigation team has “held Rao Anwar guilty of killing an innocent person in a fake encounter”.
