Nawaz Says Will Not Compromise on Self Respect

Islamabad (February 15, 2018): Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that he is not involved in any sort of corruption and would not compromise on his self respect.

He was talking to media after the accountability court hearing in references filed by NAB. The former premier said that these people are now bent on removing him from the party leadership but he would not accept this decision.

“We are not the one who will compromise on the situation,” he said and asked as if now PCO judges would tell them regarding the moral values.

He said that he would not compromise on his self respect and how could those who had taken oath on PCO could give us lessons on moral values.

Criticizing judges, he said that using words such as thief and robbers for an elected leader is a disgrace to their office.

He asked, “What is the difference between the language of Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan?”

Sharif went on to say that people have to listen to their voice of conscience.

The former prime minister later left from the accountability court to Punjab House.

Earlier, the accountability court reserved the decision on the pleas from Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar over exemption from court proceedings in order to travel to London to visit ailing Kulsoom Nawaz.

The court adjourned the hearing till 22 February.

On Thursday morning, the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar appeared before the accountability court in Islamabad.

The accountability court headed by judge Muhammad Bashir heard references filed by the National Accountability Court. 

He left from Punjab House after consultations with the party leadership and was welcomed by a large number of party supporters at judicial complex chanting slogans in his favour.

The NAB had filed a plea to place the names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar on ECL while the Sharif family had also filed a plea seeking exemption of two weeks from the proceedings due to their visit to London to inquire health of ailing Kulsoom Nawaz.
