New Zealand clinch victory against Pakistan by 60 runs in Champions Trophy opener

Karachi: With the help o f Tom Latham, Will Young tons New Zealand clinched victory against Pakistan in an opener of Champions trophy match by 60 runs.

Tom Latham first made tremendous partnership with Will Young of 118 runs then he made second marvellous partnership with Phillips Glenn of 125 runs.

Will Young bowled out at 108 runs while Phillips Glenn lost his wicket scoring 61 runs.

While Tom Letham remained unbeaten on 118 runs. On this performance he was declared player of the match.

On the other hand, Pakistan start was not up to mark as Saud Shakeel caughty after scoring just six runs, then,Muhammad Rizwan remained unfortunate as he caught by O Bourke tramendously.

Later, Fakhar Zaman out at 69 by scoring 24 runs. At this time Salman Ali Agha and Baber Azam made more than 50 runs partnership for the fourth wicket.

Salman Ali Agha sent to pavilion owing to his faulty short while Tayyib Tahir next to go on just making one runs.

Baber Azam lost his wicket after scoring 64 runs off 90 balls, later Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed.

Khushdil Shah emerged as batter as he scored 69 runs playing just 49 balls and remained top scorer from the Pakistan side.

In the end quick wickets fell of Harris Rauf, 19, run and Naseem Shah 13 runs.

From the New Zealand side Will O’Rourke, Mitchell Santner got three wickets each while Matt Henry took two wickets.

Michael Bracewell and Nathan Smith picked one wicket each.
