KARACHI: Motorists travelling from NIPA towards Hassan Square were left facing difficulties after the Karachi administration closed the route without issuing prior notice or installing warning signs.
The road closure comes after the NIPA overhead bridge near the Federal Urdu University, where barricades have been placed to prevent vehicles from proceeding towards Hassan Square. However, no signs indicating the closure were installed at the beginning of the bridge or near the diversion point.
As a result, motorists only discovered that the route was blocked after reaching the Federal Urdu University, leaving many drivers to search for alternative routes themselves.
The situation was further aggravated by the absence of traffic police personnel at the site to guide motorists or manage the flow of traffic.
Citizens have expressed frustration over the lack of information and traffic arrangements, particularly as the route from NIPA towards Sector 13-D has already remained closed for several months.
Meanwhile, TransKarachi, the organisation overseeing construction of the BRT Red Line, had earlier issued a circular indicating that the affected road would be reopened on September 15. However, the route remained closed beyond the announced date.
