ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has clarified that individuals traveling on foreign passports will still be permitted entry into Pakistan if they hold a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (Nicop). However, passengers with expired or invalid Nicop must secure a Pakistani visa prior to travel.
Government spokesperson emphasized that recent reports claiming all British passport holders would be denied entry based on Nicop status are inaccurate and misleading.
The official clarified that the new directives apply to travelers from all countries— including the UK, US, European nations, and others— who do not possess a valid Nicop. Under the updated guidelines, anyone traveling on a foreign passport with an invalid, canceled, or expired Nicop must obtain a Pakistani visa before boarding their flight.
Airlines have been instructed explicitly not to allow boarding for passengers who do not have the necessary travel documents, with no exceptions provided for those lacking valid Pakistani visas or passports.
The spokesperson also addressed concerns about misinformation, stating that the restrictions do not impact travelers holding a valid Nicop, who can continue their journey to Pakistan as per existing rules.
Furthermore, airline staff and station managers have been directed to brief their teams thoroughly and ensure passengers are informed of the new requirements before they travel.
