ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC) has granted the Pakistan Army full authority to respond decisively to Indian aggression.
An emergency meeting of the NSC, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has concluded. The meeting was attended by senior military officials, ministers, and other key figures.
According to the official statement, the forum offered prayers (Fatiha) for the innocent civilians martyred in Indian attacks, expressed deep condolences to the families of the martyrs, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The NSC reviewed the grave situation arising from India’s unprovoked, cowardly, and illegal acts of war. The statement revealed that on the night of May 6 and 7, Indian armed forces carried out coordinated missile, aerial, and drone strikes on Pakistan’s sovereign territory. The attacks targeted areas in Punjab including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, and Bahawalpur, as well as regions in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, namely Kotli and Muzaffarabad
