Pakistan cannot afford another martial law, said Bilawal Bhutto.

Oxford: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, Pakistan cannot afford another martial law.

While addressing the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Memorial Lecture program under the Oxford University Union, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that, future of Pakistan is tied to the supremacy of the constitution, an independent judiciary, and free journalism. He emphasized that the people of Pakistan have every right to demand a better future.

He said, Benazir Bhutto’s efforts to bring the benefits of democracy to the people are commendable. My mother, Benazir Bhutto came to study at Oxford at the age of 16.

Benazir Bhutto entered Pakistani politics at the age of 25 and that she was an extraordinary woman, said Bilawal Bhutto

“My mother didn’t teach me to seek revenge, which is why I say that democracy is the best form of vengeance. Despite the restrictions imposed on women, Benazir Bhutto became the Prime Minister of the country. Benazir paved the way for women to step forward in Pakistan.”

The chairman of the PPP stated that today the Chief Minister of Punjab is also a woman, and that Benazir Bhutto was targeted in attacks.

He said, Benazir Bhutto continued to participate in politics without fear, dedicating her life to making Pakistan a better place. Despite facing opposition, Benazir Bhutto remained active in advancing Pakistan.
