Petrol likely to short in Punjab, KPK

LAHORE: The ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests have disrupted the supply chain of petroleum products, sparking concerns over an imminent fuel shortage in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Abdul Sami Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, said the closure of roads has caused the suspension of supplies to petrol pumps in both provinces. “There are reports of petrol and diesel running out at some pumps. The government should take immediate steps for uninterrupted supply,” he urged, adding that tankers are unable to reach Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

While Sindh remains relatively unaffected, Punjab and KP face a growing crisis, with several vehicles stranded and petrol availability dwindling. There are reports that many vehicles have been stranded due to road closures that may lead to petrol shortage in various parts of Punjab.

The situation is particularly critical in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, where the ongoing protests have severely disrupted the supply chain. “We urge the authorities to resolve this issue promptly to prevent a full-blown fuel crisis,” Khan added.
