ISLAMABAD: The first round of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concluded without any result.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Barrister Saif, the Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, engaged in discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis.
Sources revealed that the government urged PTI leaders to refrain from entering Islamabad, citing a business conference with Belarusian investors scheduled for the following day. Additionally, the government proposed alternative locations for PTI’s sit-in, offering either Parade Ground or Peshawar Mor, but PTI rejected the offer.
PTI leaders remained resolute in their demand for the immediate release of party founder Imran Khan, asserting that if he is not freed, they will continue their march to D-Chowk.
The sources further noted that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi would report back to the Prime Minister on the outcome of the talks, with the possibility of further negotiations between the government and PTI in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a PTI convoy from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, has entered the Islamabad limits, intensifying the protest movement.
