Islamabad (November 26, 2017): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired a high level meeting on the Faizabad operation at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad today.
The meeting was also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, DG ISI Naveed Mukhtar, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, said the sources.
The premier was briefed on the situation that has ensued after the crackdown on the protesters in Faizabad. The meeting mull options to sort out Faizabad issue.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had cut short his United Arab Emirates visit and arrived homeland. The army chief was on a visit to the United Arab Emirates and cut short his trip to reach the country last night.
Whereas Rangers have been given charge of the Faizabad operation in a bid to control the chaos in the capital. Around 1,000 Rangers personnel, who were deployed in Islamabad yesterday, have been re-positioned to the front-lines of the security operation.
Islamabad police and FC personnel, who were yesterday on the front-lines, have been relegated to back positions.
