PM holds Meeting with Close Aides Before JIT Appearance

Islamabad (June 15, 2017): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday held consultations with his close aides ahead of his scheduled appearance before the joint investigation team (JIT) currently seized with investigation of alleged money laundering by his family at 11:00 am today.

Sources said that the Prime Minister chaired an informal meeting which was attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Defence Minister Khwaja Asif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the top PML-N guns held consultation about PM’s appearance before the JIT today and other related issues.

The PM decided that he would be appearing before the JIT as a common man. No protocol will accompany the Prime Minister and even traffic police will not be with the PM.

It is to be mentioned here that extra ordinary security arrangements have been made and Rangers personnel have taken up security duties around the Federal Judicial Academy.

The Prime Minister will appear before the JIT today at Federal Judicial Academy, which is being used as secretariat of the JIT,  at 11:00am.

It is for the first time in the history of the country that a sitting Prime Minister is appearing before such a panel.

The employees of the Academy are allowed to enter the building only after passing through walk-through gates installed at the entrance of the Academy.

On Thursday morning, Inspector General Police Islamabad Khalid Khattak visited FJA and reviewed security arrangements being made for the day.

SSP Operation Islamabd Police Sajjid Kyani also visited the Academy and reviewed security inside of the building.

On the other hand, SSP Security and SSP Traffic also visited the FJA to oversee the security and traffic arrangements being made for the historic day.

It is to be mentioned here besides Prime Minister, the JIT has also summoned Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for June 17, Prime Minister’s son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar for June 24 and former Interior Minister and PPP leader Rehman Malik for June 23.
