PM orders immediate probe into deadly attack on Punjab MPA’s residence

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered an immediate investigation into the deadly attack on PML-N MPA and former provincial minister Ayub Gadhi’s residence in Toba Tek Singh, which left four people dead and the lawmaker injured.

According to state media, the prime minister directed authorities to identify and arrest those involved in the attack without delay. He described the incident as deeply alarming, noting that Ayub Gadhi was meeting residents and hearing public complaints when the firing took place.

Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the deceased and offered prayers for the victims and their families. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The incident occurred a day earlier when unidentified assailants reportedly opened fire at Gadhi’s dera in Toba Tek Singh. Police officials confirmed that the MPA sustained injuries and was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment.

District Police Officer (DPO) said law enforcement agencies had launched raids to apprehend the attackers.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the concerned authorities. Condemning the attack, she directed police to arrest the culprits at the earliest.

The chief minister expressed condolences to the families of those killed and instructed officials to provide the best medical care to the injured, including Ayub Gadhi.
