Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the electricity distribution companies to complete the installation of smart meters soon and said that over-billing is not acceptable under any circumstances, strict action should be taken against those involved in over-billing.
PM Shehbaz Sharif chaired a review meeting on the performance of electricity distribution companies in which issues of Lahore Electric Supply Company, Peshawar Electric Supply Company and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company were discussed.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing on the performance of LESCO, PESCO and FESCO.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the work of installing smart meters should be completed soon so that transparency can be brought in the billing system, over-billing is not acceptable in any way, strict action will be taken against the officers involved.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister expressed his concern over the delay in the appointment of the chief executive officers of the electricity distribution companies and directed that the appointment of the chief executive officers of the electricity distribution companies should be completed soon through a very transparent process.
Shahbaz Sharif said, the recruitment of manpower in electricity distribution companies should be done on merit, all resources should be used to fulfill the target given by Nepra.
