Lahore (February 27, 2018): The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz central working committee (CWC) meeting has begun in Model Town Lahore to choose new party president after the Supreme Court of Pakistan removed Nawaz Sharif from the post.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Maryam Nawaz, Khwaja Saad Rafique and several others are attending the meeting. Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar is yet to arrive at the meeting.
Before the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Khwaja Saad Rafique met with the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed Senate elections, NAB references and other issues.
Earlier, Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana and Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair Umar met in Model Town and discussed the current political scenario. The two expressed their confidence over the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and said that the PML-N had come into power through the votes of masses.
The governor Punjab said that not only foreigners delegates but political opponents have also lauded the services of the Shahbaz Sharif for the Punjab province.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab chief executive would likely be elected as the permanent party president through the party’s general council within 45 days.
The party leadership has also agreed that apart from senior vice-president of the party, the CWC can also elect another office-bearer as the interim president.
The meeting is likely to adopt a resolution reposing its confidence in Nawaz Sharif.
