Polling Ends, Counting Underway In Sindh, KP LB By-Polls

Karachi (December 23, 2018): Polling for by-elections on vacant seats of local councils in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended as the counting process has been started on Sunday (today).

In Sindh, by-elections are being held at 65 local councils’ seats in 24 districts of the province including 26 seats in six districts of Karachi.

According to the Provincial Election Commission, polling started at 08:00 am in the morning and continued till 04:00 pm without any break.Furthermore, the authorities have taken strict security measures to maintain peace during the polling.

Candidates from Political parties like Muttahida Quomi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will go head to head in these elections.In Sindh, around 0.5 million voters will exercise their right to vote. The Provincial Election Commission has established 389 polling stations for the by-elections.

The polling is also underway at 364 seats of local councils in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where over 15,00,000 voters will exercise their right to vote 1255 polling stations.In Peshawar polling being held at 85 polling stations for three vacant seats of village councils and six seats of town councils.
