Islamabad (May 23, 2017): Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday submitted call attention notice in National Assembly over recovery of heroin from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights in recent days.
The call attention notice, singed by PPP MNAs Naveed Qamar, Ejaz Jakhrani, Mustafa Shah, Imran Leghari, Shazia Marri and Nafeesa Shah, said that within short span of time occurrence of multiple incidents of heroin recovery had put a big question mark on the performance of the PIA management and those at the helms of affairs.

The notice further said that these incidents were part of a ‘conspiracy’ to damage the reputation of the national flag carrier and defame the country in the world.
It withdrew the attention of the house toward such incident, demanding debate on it.
It is to be mentioned here that Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had foiled a bid to smuggle heroin onboard a London-bound flight after the force recovered about 20kg from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-785 at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) just before its take-off to Heathrow.

The ANF found the heroin hidden in different parts of the plane after carrying out a search of the plane before take-off with the help of PIA security staff.
This was also the second case to surface this month, as on May 16 PIA crew members were detained by Britain’s National Crime Agency after heroin was found on a PIA flight at London’s Heathrow Airport.
