PPP’s Waqar Mehdi Elected Senator from Vacant Sindh Seat

KARACHI: Pakistan People Party’s Sindh General Secretary and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Waqar Mehdi, has been elected as a Senator from the vacant Senate seat in Sindh.

Sindh Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan has announced the results, According to Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan, Waqar Mehdi of the PPP secured victory with 111 votes.

In comparison, Nighat Mirza of MQM-Pakistan received 36 votes, The Election Commissioner stated that 2 votes were rejected due to incorrect marking. 

It is worth noting that this seat became vacant following the death of PPP Senator Taj Haider. Waqar Mehdi has previously served as a member of the Senate as well.
