President Zardari and Chinese Envoy Discuss Regional Stability Amidst Tensions

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday received Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, for a meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The discussions centered on deepening bilateral ties and assessing the current regional security landscape, particularly the heightened tensions between Pakistan and India following the recent events in Pahalgam.

During the meeting, President Zardari conveyed Pakistan’s strong reservations regarding the recent statements emanating from the Indian government, characterizing them as both irresponsible and escalatory. The President highlighted that such rhetoric has the potential to undermine regional peace and stability, which are crucial for the progress and prosperity of South Asia.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with Pakistan, underscoring the robust and historic nature of their relationship. He described the bond as that of “ironclad brothers,” a testament to the mutual support and solidarity shared between the two nations, especially during challenging periods.

The Chinese envoy expressed his gratitude to President Zardari for providing a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s position on the current regional situation. He affirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in South Asia, aligning with the shared aspirations of both countries for a peaceful and prosperous region.
