ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his appreciation for the efforts, struggles, and sacrifices of hardworking men and women who play a vital role in the country’s development.
On the occasion of International Labour Day, President Zardari stated in a message that Labour Day reminds the world of the struggles of workers worldwide to attain their rights and dignity. He reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to ensuring workers’ autonomy, fair wages, a safe working environment, and social protection.
The President emphasized that, the labor and working class are the driving force behind our economy and national progress. Workers contribute significantly to the construction of our infrastructure, industries, agriculture, and economic growth.
He highlighted that our workers are our pride, and our national development is indebted to their hard work and dedication.
He further stated that, in a rapidly changing world, focus must be given to equipping young people and workers with modern skills to ensure a brighter future.
There is a need to provide our workers and youth with comprehensive training in new competencies, and to establish an inclusive system to enhance their skills.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of creating a just labor environment and working towards the welfare of workers. He called for the promotion of meaningful policies, comprehensive development, and a culture that respects every worker’s role.
