MUZAFFARABAD: A private college principal who was seriously wounded in a shooting outside his educational institution in Muzaffarabad has died during treatment, police confirmed on Friday.
According to investigators, Principal Hamza Ahmed Dar was attacked outside the college premises a day earlier when an armed man allegedly opened fire as he stepped out of his office. He suffered three gunshot wounds to the head and remained in critical condition before passing away at a hospital in the Gojra area.
Police officials said a security guard at the college witnessed the incident and provided details to investigators regarding the attack.
The suspected gunman was apprehended shortly after the shooting while allegedly attempting to escape. Authorities recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the assault.
During preliminary investigations, police discovered that the suspect belonged to Wah Cantt and had reportedly been staying at a nearby hotel since Sunday.
Officials said early findings indicate the accused acted independently, with no evidence yet pointing to the involvement of additional suspects. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
