Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senator Sania Nishtaar has resigned from her senate seat.
Former federal minister has tendered her resignation owing to her new job in the international institution in Geneva.
Sania Nishtar has sent her resignation to the senate secretariat.
Sania Nishtar is a prominent physician, cardiologist, author, senator, and activist. In 2024, she was appointed CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
Sania Nishtar previously served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, holding the status of Federal Minister, and chaired the Ehsaas Programme.
She was elected to the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the 2021 Senate elections.
In 2013, she was part of the interim federal cabinet, overseeing public health, education, and science.
She also chairs the International Advisory Board of the United Nations International Institute for Global Health and is part of the International Advisory Board on Global Health for the German Federal Government.
