Punjab Govt files review petition in SC disputed verdict of Mubarak Sani case

Islamabad: The Punjab government on Friday filed a review petition over a disputed verdict of the Supreme court in the Mubarak Ahamed Sani case.

The SC has approved the Punjab government’s review petition for hearing.The top court has issued notices all the respondents for Monday February 26..

Filing the review petition the Assistant Prosecutor Punjab adopted the view that in the para 9 in the verdict of Mubarak Sani case article 20 was not completely clarified.

He contended that under the ariticle 20 of the constitution the religious freedom is not unlimitd.
He said that a wrong impression was given owing to not given the clarification.

Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said that when the article 20 mentioned then there is no need of a clarification.If you say then we will clarify the matter, CJ Isa said.

The CJ said that under the article 20 the religious freedom links to public order and conditions to morality.

He said that in the review for clarification there is a need of notice. While the Assistant prosecutor general said that it is a point of the interpretation of the constitution. There is no need of notice, the Assistant Prosecutor Punjab said.

While Justice Irfan Saadat said that there is a need of notice on the review.

The top court noticed February 26 over the review petition of the Punjab government.
