Punjab launches Rs1 million support program for cancer patients

LAHORE: The Punjab government has introduced an innovative healthcare scheme designed to offer financial aid and comprehensive treatment to cancer patients throughout the province.

Named the “Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Cancer Patients,” this program provides eligible patients with up to Rs. 1 million annually for free treatment.

According to the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company, only residents of Punjab are eligible to benefit from this scheme.

The initiative covers the entire treatment process, starting from diagnosis and continuing through all stages of medical care, and will be accessible at selected hospitals listed on the program’s panel.

To assist patients, a dedicated support system has been set up, including a 24/7 helpline (0800-09009), landline contact options, and a WhatsApp service for registration and guidance.

The government emphasizes that this program aims to improve access to high-quality healthcare services and remove financial obstacles that hinder timely treatment for cancer patients.
