Rehman Malik Returns from Foreign Trip to Appear Before JIT

Islamabad (June 19, 2017):  Former Interior Minister and PPP leader Senator Rehman Malik on Monday reached Pakistan after cutting short his foreign visit to appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) currently seized with investigation into money laundering allegations against Prime Minister and his family,  on June 23, 2017.

The JIT has summoned the to appear before it on June 23, 2017. Earlier, he was asked to appear before the team on June 13, but he requested to reschedule the date as he was not in the country.

Sources said that Malik will appear before the JIT with all record.

The JIT had asked the former interior minister to bring with him the record of money laundering investigation against Sharif family. The JIT had asked Malik to appear before it on June 23, Friday, at 2:30 pm at the Federal Judicial Academy.

It is to be mentioned here that Malik was summoned earlier by the JIT.  However, Malik could not appear before the team for being outside the country and had requested the team to give another date for appearance.

He had urged the JIT to postpone his appearance for a date after June 19, saying that he would cut short his visit abroad in order to appear before the JIT.
