ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has set a time limit of completion of the Orange Line Train Project until January 2020.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed while Justice Aijaz Ul Ahsan, Justice Umar Atta Bandial were part of the bench.
Secretary Transport Punjab appeared before the court while expressing anger on the delay in the completion of the project Justice Azmat asked several questions of one was when the project would be completed? how much money has been spent on the project? to which secretary transport informed the court that an amount of Rs 169 billion has been spent so far.
The head of the bench Justice Azmat Saeed replied back that “production cost of the project is on the rise with the delay will you pay the additional cost? asked the judge adding that the SC at all cost will ensure completion of the project.
At the occasion, Justice Umar Atta Bandial said that the project initiated by the previous had to be completed in the year 2018.
Justice Aijaz Ul Hassan asked the project director Sibtain Fazal Haleem when the project would be completed? the project director requested the court time until January 2020 to which the court allowed deadline of January 2020 while the SC will oversee the construction of the project.
Later the court adjourned the hearing until the end of summer vacations.
