Islamabad: The Upper House of the Parliament (Senate) on Friday, today approved a set of various crimes bills for awarding sentences to the culprits.
The Senate session today held in chair of Senator Sherry Rehman.
Federal Minister for law and human rights Azam Nazeer Tarrar presented three bills, prevention of smuggling of immigrants, begging outside the country and sending women abroad for prostitution.
All the bills were approved unanimously as no one pointed fingers at the bills.
The first bill presented and approved in the senate by the government is of prevention of smuggling of immigrants amendment act 2025, Second, prevention of trafficking in persons amendment news 2025 and third further amendment in immigration ordinance 1979 bill also included.
Under these bills involved persons will be given three to 10 years prison and fines while ring leader involved in sending people for begging abroad will face stern punishment.
Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarrar said regarding the law that illegal immigrants vessels sinking incidents are frequently happening while beggars are defaming the country by going abroad in guise of Umrah pilgrims.
He said that he has presented the bills for awarding a strict punishment to the perpetrators for prevention of these incidents.
A resolution also approved in the Senate today regarding holding up of peaceful rally or political gathering, congregation.
The resolution was presented by the Opposition leader Shibli Faraz under its content a peaceful political gathering, rally and congregation is the right of all the political parties. If any peaceful congregation were held in the country then it should be permitted.
Besides that finance bill and income tax bill 2025 were presented in the senate. Whereas finance committee of the senate will present its report in 10 days and this recommendation will be forwarded to the NA.
On the government pointing out incomplete quorum, the senate session was adjourned till Monday.
