KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution to extend the deployment of the Rangers in the province for an additional year, from July 20, 2026, to July 19, 2027.
The resolution, passed under Article 147 of the Constitution, emphasizes the continued need for Rangers’ assistance to civil authorities to maintain law and order. The move comes amid ongoing concerns over security threats and criminal activities in Sindh.
According to the resolution, the extension is justified by notable improvements in law enforcement, including a reduction in target killings and street crimes, which officials attribute to Rangers’ operational efforts. It also highlights the persistent threat posed by banned organizations and fugitives, underscoring the importance of Rangers’ presence.
The assembly stressed that the Rangers’ role remains vital for ensuring public safety, protecting lives and property, and supporting police operations through intelligence-driven initiatives. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Sindh.
