ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced on Friday that the new moon of Rabiul Sani 1448 AH is anticipated to be born on September 11 at 8:27 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
According to SUPARCO’s astronomical data, the moon will be approximately 34 hours and 33 minutes old by sunset on September 12. Additionally, the interval between sunset and moonset is expected to be around 39 minutes along Pakistan’s coastal regions.
Based on these calculations, the crescent of Rabiul Sani is likely to be visible to the naked eye in coastal areas, weather conditions permitting. Observers in other parts of the country may also be able to see the moon with telescopes on the evening of September 12.
As a result, it is projected that the first day of Rabiul Sani 1448 AH will fall on Sunday, September 13, following the completion of Rabiul Awwal. However, the official announcement regarding the moon sighting and the start of the Islamic month will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
This committee, responsible for declaring the beginning of Islamic months, will verify witnesses’ testimonies and observations received from across Pakistan to confirm the moon’s sighting.
