Sindh govt announced scholarships for students

KARACHI: The Sindh government has sanctioned scholarships for 2,662 students from the province to support their higher education during the 2025-26 academic session. The decision was announced during a meeting of the Sindh Education Endowment Fund (SEEF) Board of Trustees, led by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah.

Additionally, the board approved the renewal of scholarships for 5,853 students already enrolled in higher education through the SEEF Scholarship Program. It was highlighted in the meeting that the scholarship scheme currently funds students from Sindh studying at 92 universities nationwide.

The total capital of the Sindh Education Endowment Fund is projected to reach Rs.11.62 billion by 2026, with the funds generated from investments supporting scholarship disbursements. The Sindh government contributes approximately Rs. 2 billion annually to the fund.

Since its inception in 2002, SEEF has facilitated the education of over 42,000 students, enabling them to complete their degrees at universities across Pakistan.

During the meeting, Provincial Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah emphasized that the SEEF scholarship program provides crucial opportunities for Sindh students to pursue higher education at both public and private institutions across the country. He also directed a review of the fund’s investment strategies to enhance returns and increase the number of scholarships offered.

The board decided that SEEF’s Executive Committee would submit proposals aimed at expanding scholarship opportunities in universities. Furthermore, it was agreed to digitize all SEEF operations to promote transparency and efficiency. The board also approved conducting an independent third-party audit to bolster the fund’s institutional performance.
