KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has rolled out a new digital attendance and monitoring platform across 3,481 government schools, marking a significant step towards transforming the education infrastructure in the province.
Initiated under the guidance of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, the program assigns each student a unique digital profile that records attendance, academic achievements, and exam results. This move aims to enhance transparency and streamline administrative processes.
As of August 10, the digital system has been implemented in over three thousand schools, with plans to extend it to all government institutions in Sindh by April 2027. The policy, approved by the Sindh Cabinet in March 2026, provides authorities with tools to closely track daily attendance and quickly identify students missing school for extended periods, thereby preventing dropouts.
Students will be issued individual IDs and QR codes for easy identification. Additionally, parents will receive SMS alerts if their children are absent for long durations, enabling them to address attendance issues promptly and support their child’s continued education.
The system also facilitates the generation of academic certificates and reports, with offline attendance options available for schools in areas with limited internet access. Advanced features such as geofencing and facial recognition have been integrated into the platform, which is linked with other key educational digital systems.
In the long term, the department plans to connect this platform with NADRA and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to create a comprehensive digital record system for students, further enhancing data accuracy and policy implementation.
