ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday defended his rulings on the references filed by opposition and ruling parties lawmakers against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PTI chief Imran Khan, respectively.
Responding the criticism from opposition parries in the National Assembly for rejecting the references against Prime Minister and forwarding the reference filed by PML-N lawmakers against Imran Khan to Election Commission of Pakistan, he said that he gave the ruling on the opposition references against PM seeking his disqualification as per constitution and law.
He said that he had sent the reference against Imran Khan to ECP on merit. He said the proper forum to take a decision on the reference was ECP, which required to decide it within 90 days. The NA Speaker said that if anyone had any objection over his decision he/she had the forum of courts of the country.
It is to be mentioned here that NA Speaker had rejected the opposition reference against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while forwarded the reference against PTI chief Imran Khan to ECP for decision, which earned him opposition ire.
