JHELUM: In a heartbreaking incident in Jhelum, a man reportedly took his three young children for a trip and then deliberately threw them into the Upper Jhelum Canal. Authorities are currently conducting a rescue operation to locate the missing children.
According to police reports, the suspect, Raja Zeeshan, is known to have struggled with drug addiction and has been married for nine years. The family had a domestic dispute six months ago, which led to his wife leaving for her parents’ residence. Recently, the couple reportedly reconciled, and she returned home.
On the day of the incident, Raja Zeeshan allegedly took his children—Fajar Zeeshan (8), Umar Zeeshan (5), and Noor Fatima (2.5)—in his vehicle, claiming they were going on a recreational outing. After feeding the children and spending some time together, police say he threw them into the canal.
Following the incident, Raja Zeeshan went into hiding and posted pictures on social media. Authorities quickly apprehended him, and he reportedly admitted to his actions. Divers have been deployed to search the Upper Jhelum Canal for the missing children, and rescue operations are ongoing.
This tragic event has shocked the local community and underscores the urgent need for mental health support and stricter measures to prevent such tragedies.
