A.J.KASHMIR: A Rangers officer succumbed to his injuries after being critically wounded during an armed clash with a mob in Azad Kashmir. The incident occurred during a clearance operation aimed at reopening blocked routes on Trar Khal Road, where law enforcement faced heavy resistance.
According to reports, snipers from the protesting mob opened fire on security forces, leading to intense gunfire exchange. Rangers soldier Asif Hussain was seriously injured in the attack on September 4 and was transferred to CMH Rawalpindi for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he embraced martyrdom on September 10.
The operation was launched in response to local residents’ urgent requests to lift movement restrictions and alleviate food shortages. Security analysts have condemned the use of advanced weaponry and explosives by the rioters, labeling it an act of terrorism planned with malicious intent.
