Trump Again Offers to Mediate Kashmir Dispute for India, Pakistan

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has once again offered to mediate between India and Pakistan over the conflict in Kashmir.

Trump said that it is on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to decide on mediation and he is still open to mediating between Pakistan’s premier Imran Khan and PM Modi.

This comes after Pakistan accepted the mediation offer but India categorically denied it saying that PM Modi never asked for Trump’s help in solving the Kashmir dispute.

Talking to media on mediation offer, Trump said: “It is really up to PM Modi.”

“I met with PM Khan, I got along great. I think they are fantastic people, both Khan and Modi. I would imagine they can get along very well,” he added.

The US president said: “If they wanted somebody to intervene (on Kashmir issue) or to help them… and I spoke with Pakistan about that, and I spoke, frankly, to India about it. But that’s been going on, that battle, for a long time.”

When asked how would he “want to resolve the Kashmir issue”, Trump said, “If I can, if they wanted me to, I would certainly intervene.”
