Trump announces to sign several executive orders on first day

WASHINGTON: After taking the oath of office, newly elected President Trump has said that he would sign several executive orders on the day first.

Trump declared that he would impose a state of emergency at the country’s southern border and enforce a ban on illegal immigration into the country.

He stated that he would reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy and deploy military forces at the southern border. Trump also announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico and take back the Panama Canal from Panama.

Before the ceremony, Trump met with President Joe Biden at the White House. Trump, along with his wife Melania Trump, also attended a prayer service at a church in Washington, D.C.

Due to the severe cold in Washington, D.C., the inauguration ceremony was held indoors for the first time in 40 years.

Several Pakistani political figures and Pakistani-Americans attended Trump’s inauguration. Foreign ministers from Japan, India, and Australia were also present, and China’s Vice President represented his country.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and TikTok CEO Shou Chew were also present at the ceremony.

Prior to the inauguration, a celebratory rally was held at Capital One Arena to mark Trump’s victory.
