U.S. may withdraw from Russia-Ukraine ceasefire if challenges emerge, warns Trump

WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that, if either party in the Russia-Ukraine conflict creates difficulties in the ceasefire efforts, the U.S. will withdraw from the negotiation process.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, he expressed hope that this situation will not arise.

Trump mentioned that he does not want to imply that the U.S. is moving away from negotiations, but in the event of difficulties caused by either side regarding the ceasefire, the U.S. will exit the process.

He further stated that this is the best time for a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire.

In response to a question, Trump also remarked that discussions with China are going well.
