US-Based Baker hughes partners with OGDCL to enhance Oil, Gas output in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s oil and gas sector is set to receive a boost as Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced a strategic partnership with American energy technology firm Baker Hughes. The collaboration aims to increase production from Pakistan’s aging oil and gas fields through innovative technologies and expertise.

According to an OGDCL official, the agreement focuses on revitalizing the company’s mature assets, which include 12 oil fields and six gas and condensate fields, to maximize output. Baker Hughes will deploy advanced techniques to optimize the performance of these fields, which currently contribute significantly to Pakistan’s energy supply.

Presently, OGDCL produces approximately 40,000 barrels of crude oil daily, along with 815 million standard cubic feet of gas and 780 metric tonnes of LPG. The partnership is expected to enhance these figures by extending the life and efficiency of existing assets.

The spokesperson highlighted that this collaboration is a crucial step towards strengthening Pakistan’s energy independence and ensuring a more secure domestic supply of oil and gas. US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A Baker also expressed that the deal marks an important milestone in the ongoing energy cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, emphasizing shared goals of energy security and sustainable development.
