WASHINGTON: US has temporarily suspended aid to Pakistan for 90 days, affecting 28 major projects across various sectors.
In line with actions taken by various nations, US officials have announced a halt in aid to Pakistan, resulting in the suspension of several key projects.
In recent developments, the United States has decided to temporarily halt nearly all foreign aid initiatives. This suspension affects key programs aimed at supporting Ukraine, Taiwan, and Jordan, among others. The halt is set to last for a period of 90 days.
The US State Department has directed all American diplomatic and consular missions worldwide to immediately pause their aid programs and cease all related activities.
According to official confirmation from US officials, this directive applies to Pakistan and other countries receiving US assistance. As a result, several key projects have been suspended, bringing aid to a temporary standstill.
According to a US official, Pakistan’s aid has been halted until a re-evaluation.
The project under the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation has been temporarily suspended, while the US move has also halted five projects in the energy sector.
The US move has affected four programs related to economic growth and five in the agriculture sector, while funds related to democracy, human rights, and governance have also been temporarily suspended.
In addition, the US move has affected 11 programs in governance, four in the education sector, and four in the health sector.
US officials will decide to continue the programs after a re-evaluation.
