Viral Karachi gunpoint harassment video: Sindh home minister seeks police report

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has directed the DIG South to submit a report after a video allegedly showing men threatening and harassing citizens at gunpoint in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area circulated widely on social media.

The minister ordered police to identify the individuals seen in the footage and ensure that anyone found using firearms to intimidate citizens is held accountable under the law.

He also called for a comprehensive investigation to establish the authenticity of the video and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged incidents.

The footage reportedly shows men travelling in a car and threatening passers-by with weapons at different locations in DHA. One masked individual is allegedly seen pointing a firearm at pedestrians, while others appear to mock and intimidate members of the public.

Lanjar directed the police to conduct a thorough inquiry and take legal action against those involved if the allegations are substantiated. He also instructed the DIG South to provide a detailed report on the matter.

So far, police have not publicly identified the individuals shown in the video or confirmed any arrests in connection with the incident.

The footage has not been independently verified, and its exact location and recording date remain unclear.
