We will respond with full force if water supply is stopped: PM Minister Warns

KAKUL: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that, Pakistan is a frontline state in the fight against terrorism. He mentioned that after the Pulwama incident, India made baseless and unsubstantiated accusations against Pakistan; however, as a responsible state, Pakistan is ready for impartial international investigations.

While addressing the passing-out parade of cadets at the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul as the chief guest, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that if Pakistan’s water is stopped by violating the Indus Waters Treaty, it will respond with full force. No one should remain under any illusions.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that, Pakistan has always rejected and condemned terrorism in all its forms and is the most affected country by terrorism in the world, with 90,000 citizens losing their lives due to terrorist activities, resulting in billions of dollars in losses to the Pakistani economy.

He stated that, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan aims for peace and security globally and will continue its efforts in this regard.

The Prime Minister highlighted that, Afghanistan is our neighbor and a brotherly Islamic nation, and that Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence based on mutual respect. Unfortunately, acts of terrorism are occurring from Afghan soil into Pakistan. Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar visited Kabul to affirm that Pakistan desires good and peaceful relations with Afghanistan, but cannot tolerate attacks from Afghan territory.

Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had declared that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and this global dispute has been awaiting resolution for decades. The people of Kashmir have sacrificed countless lives in pursuit of their right to breathe in freedom, and the international community appears to be failing in resolving the Kashmir issue.

He emphasized that Pakistan is fully aware of its responsibilities for maintaining global peace and will continue to fulfill its obligations according to the United Nations Charter.

Earlier, he addressed the graduating cadets, stating that they are becoming part of one of the best armed forces in the world, known for its discipline and exemplary conduct. The armed forces operate in accordance with the guiding principles laid out by the founder of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister further remarked that, after economic recovery, Pakistan is now on the path to progress despite significant challenges, and is attracting foreign investment in mining, minerals, defense production, and various other sectors.
