JAIPUR: A tragic road incident in Jaipur is now being investigated as a suspected contract killing. Authorities have detained seven individuals, including the victim’s daughter, Ayushi Sharma, amid allegations that Neeraj Sharma was deliberately run over in what appears to be a staged SUV collision.
Police sources claim that the conspiracy involved a payment of Rs.7 lakh and was driven by a family property dispute and the desire to secure a government job for the daughter after Neeraj Sharma’s death.
The case is still under investigation, and no charges have been formally proven in court yet.
Neeraj Sharma was employed as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) at a Jaipur court and had obtained her government position through a compassionate appointment following her husband’s demise, Vijay Kumar Sharma.
According to police reports, Ayushi Sharma wanted access to the same government job and was involved in ongoing disagreements over family assets.
On July 3, Sharma was dropping her son off at a coaching center in Pratap Nagar when, around 4:45 pm, a Scorpio SUV struck her at high speed. She was thrown nearly 100 feet from the collision site and died instantly.
Initially, the incident was considered an accident, but CCTV footage and other evidence have now raised suspicions of foul play, indicating the possibility of a planned attack.
Authorities allege that the suspects monitored Sharma’s daily routine and used the SUV to carry out the assault. They report that a payment of Rs.7 lakh was made to execute the murder.
Seven individuals have been detained in connection with the case, including Ayushi Sharma, Mohan Swaroop, Mohit Sharma, Akash Sharma, Arvind Sharma, Hemant Sharma—alleged to have been involved in executing the attack—and Rohit Jatav.
Additionally, police have identified Balram, alias Ravi, as a suspect who remains at large.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the exact roles played by each accused in this alleged conspiracy.
