According to the ISPR statement, on May 9, 2023, the nation witnessed tragic incidents of politically motivated violence and arson. The violent incidents of May 9 constitute a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Army emphasised that the events of May 9 serve as a stark reminder that no individual or group can impose their will on others through acts of political violence. Following this significant date, a thorough investigation was conducted, meticulously examining all evidence related to the incidents. This investigation has resulted in the collection of irrefutable proof against those accused of participating in these actions.

According to the ISPR, some cases were referred to the Field General Court Martial as per law, where after due legal proceedings, these cases were tried. On 13 December 2024, the 7-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan pronounced the judgments of the pending cases, cases which were pending due to the previous order of the Supreme Court.

Sentences of the other accused are also being announced as soon as they complete their legal process. These sentences are a clear message to all those who have been exploited by a vested few, victims of political propaganda and poisonous lies to never take the law into their hands in the future, said ISPR

In the statement, the cases against several suspects are pending in various anti-terrorism courts, complete justice will be done in the true sense when the masterminds and planners of May 9 will be punished according to the constitution and law. The state of Pakistan will ensure the viability of the state by providing complete justice in the events of May 9.

ISPR further said, by providing justice in the May 9 case, misguided and destructive politics based on violence will be buried, Justice on May 9 is the negation of hate, division and baseless propaganda.
