Utility stores sales flourish despite end of govt subsidy to it

Islamabad: Sales of commodities flourished at the Utility Stores across the country despite an end to subsidy on it.

An uptick of 17 percent recorded at the sale of commodities in the Utility stores around the country.

As per the documents, its January this year sale remained a whopping Rs 1.8 billion while its sale volume in previous month of December was Rs 1.532 billion.

The highest sale recorded in Peshawar Zone of Rs 359 million in January this year, as per the document.

The volume of sale in Faisalabad during January this year remained Rs 348 million, according to the document.

Islamabad Zone sale recorded Rs 360 million whereas Lahore Zone sale remained Rs 244 millions, according to the document.

Abbotabad Zone did business of Rs 213 million in the previous month of January while Multan Zone sale recorded at Rs 178 million in January.

Karachi Zone sale recorded at Rs 87 million in January last month.

Moreover, Sukkur, Quetta Zone sale recorded at Rs 58 million, Rs 33 million respectively.

The government has set up a committee to wind up Utility stores operations in the country while the government also stopped providing subsidy to the utility stores since August 2024.
