Detailed Verdict of Cipher Case released on Acquittal of PTI Founder

ISLAMABAD: Detailed verdict regarding the acquittal of PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been issued, stating that the prosecution completely failed to prove its case.

According to the details, the Islamabad High Court has issued a detailed verdict regarding the acquittal in the cipher case.

The detailed decision was released concerning the acquittal appeals of the founder of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Islamabad High Court’s detailed decision on the cipher case consists of 25 pages. The acting Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Gul Hassan issued a brief verdict in June.

In that ruling, the division bench acquitted Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case, and the Islamabad High Court declared the sentences of the founder of PTI and Shah Mahmood void on June 3, 2024.

The written decision stated that the prosecution failed to prove the case against Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and the record shows that the trial was conducted in unnecessary haste.

The decision stated that, a government lawyer was appointed due to the defendants’ lawyers requesting adjournments, and the government lawyer was given only one day to prepare. The cross-examination by the government lawyer reflects their inexperience and the lack of time.

This case is of a nature that it should be remanded back to the trial court; the court is hearing this case on merit. Even if we set aside the cross-examination, the evidence presented by the prosecution is insufficient to establish the case. The prosecution has completely failed to prove its case.
