PM meets U.S. top IT Company Affinity in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A delegation from American multinational IT company Affinity met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing keen interest in expanding investments in Pakistan’s IT sector.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed the establishment of a world-class call centre in Pakistan to cater to both national and international customers. He emphasized that he was personally supervising initiatives aimed at equipping the country’s youth with advanced skills in information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies.

Sharif welcomed Affinity’s interest in further investing in Pakistan’s IT sector. He highlighted his government’s commitment to providing all necessary facilities to IT companies to achieve the ambitious target of $25 billion in IT exports. He stressed that Pakistan’s skilled workforce has the capability to compete on a global scale.

The delegation praised Pakistan’s IT professionals, recognizing their talent and hard work in driving the sector’s growth. Jeremy Cappellis, a representative of Affinity, described Pakistan as a highly suitable destination for investment and business.

“Pakistan’s professional and trained workforce is what makes Affinity a successful company in the region,” Cappellis stated.

He further noted that more than 1,000 highly skilled experts are already working in Affinity Pakistan, and the youth of the country hold immense potential in advancing the IT sector.

The Affinity delegation also met with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, who briefed them on Pakistan’s tax reforms. He assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment for the IT and agriculture sectors.

The FM added that the tax system is being modernized through digitalization, making it more effective and business-friendly.
