LAHORE: In the punjab budget 2025-26 government has decided to increase the salaries and Pension for poor, During the budget speech in the Punjab Assembly,
the opposition staged a strong protest, tearing up copies of the agenda and throwing them at the speaker and finance minister. They also surrounded the speaker’s dais.Punjab Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced in his budget speech that this budget, like the previous fiscal year, is tax-free. He paid tribute to Prime Minister and the armed forces for Pakistan’s great victory against India.
Miftah Ismail stated that Field Marshal Asim Munir has crushed India’s arrogance, and the entire nation has emerged victorious against Indian aggression. He also praised the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab for uniting police, Rescue 1122, and all other departments.He condemned Israeli terrorism strongly and expressed solidarity with Iran, calling Iran and Palestine his friends in these challenging times.
Miftah Ismail mentioned that the Punjab government is operating under the guidance of Nawaz Sharif and that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has made Punjab an example of development. During Ramadan, a ‘Nighbaan Package’ was delivered to people’s homes. Support is being provided to the poor with shelter, and laptops are being distributed among youth.
He also highlighted that children are receiving scholarships, sports grounds are active for youth, and students are getting modern education standards along with milk in schools. Wi-Fi is widespread across Punjab, which is progressing and emerging.He added that 6,104 projects were completed in 365 days. Achievements, success, and public service are the proud stories of the Chief Minister. Governance, initiatives, and mindset are changing. The pace and quality of governance have improved within a year.
He mentioned the “Sathera Punjab” program, which has ensured exemplary cleanliness for the first time in the country’s history. The entire Punjab is witnessing the service-oriented leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and no scandal has arisen from billions of rupees worth of projects.The finance minister further stated that roads are being constructed across Punjab, electric buses are running, and human investment has been prioritized in the budget for the first time. Youth are being provided equal opportunities to advance. When the government took over, the system was paralyzed with corruption, inflation, and unemployment, leaving the public without support.
