Iran Fires Ballistic Missiles at U.S. Base in Qatar

DOHA: Iran has launched ballistic missiles at a U.S. airbase in Qatar.

According to a foreign news agency, explosions were heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

In a significant escalation, reports indicate that Iran has conducted a missile attack targeting U.S. military installations in Qatar, as per sources within the Israeli government. Witnesses in Doha described hearing a “massive explosion,” prompting heightened alertness among local security forces.

Israeli intelligence officials revealed that Iran launched at least six ballistic missiles aimed at American military sites in Qatar. The extent of the damage and any potential casualties remain unclear at this time. This attack comes shortly after Tehran issued threats of retaliation against U.S. interests across the Middle East, in response to recent American airstrikes on Iranian-affiliated targets.

Qatari authorities have yet to release an official statement, but security personnel have cordoned off areas near the suspected impact zones. The U.S. military has not officially confirmed the attack; however, sources suggest that emergency protocols have been activated at Al Udeid Air Base, the region’s largest U.S. military installation.

Iran had previously issued warnings of “direct strikes” on U.S. assets as a response to Washington’s aggressive stance. If verified, this incident marks the first time Tehran has explicitly targeted American bases in Qatar, indicating a shift from proxy conflicts towards direct confrontation.

The event has heightened fears of broader regional conflict, especially as Russia increases its support for Iran with advanced weaponry. Neighboring Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are closely monitoring developments, concerned about potential spillover.

The United Nations has yet to respond publicly, but given the likelihood of a forceful U.S. response, the risk of an all-out regional war continues to grow. The international community remains watchful as tensions in the Middle East threaten to spiral into a new and unpredictable crisis.
